Does anyone use the joysticks when flying or the joystick and thruster? I have been thinking of using the Saitek X55 Rhino HOTAS but wanted to see if there were some out there using it and what it was like. Is it worth it or is Mouse still better?

Unfortunately the Mouse and Keyboard will almost always be king however if you want a sense of realism while flying you can always use the HOTAS!

Yes, I'm actually using them now. They are a LOT of buttons and options but I've been flying around with the sticks for most of yesterday and have it dialed in. Here is the current configuration I am using for my sticks; there is still a lot more to setup and bind and test out. I'm trying to see what flows naturally rather than just slap bindings on.

Example: I use the throttle on the left hand but when in 3rd person camera mode I use the thumb stick on my right hand to move the camera around so that I can see when I am parking larger ships in tight hangers and throttle up or down accordingly. Having both on the same stick would cause efficiency issues when trying to pan the camera and throttle up/down at the same time.

NOTE: These are constantly changing as I refine the flow/requirements for flight/mining/turrets etc.

I'd love to see your desk setup this

I switched to HOSAS from HOTAS. I have never used M&K and so I actually find M&K board to be harder. LOL. I moved to VKBs from the T1600. I know I am late to the party. I recently downloaded Buzzkiller's presets for them and they are really good. However, It is always best to do your own and how you like to play.

I was using his as well but it's just too much and it was awkward for me depending on the loop I was playing so I started to make my own. I still have a ton of room left over. I feel that some folks bind shit just becuase they have a button available LOL I'm more about the KISS rather than the complexity.
