"What is this Hadean Interstellar?
Well, that is a good question. Hadean Interstellar is sort of the latest iteration of Hadean Drive Yards; an EVE Online Corporation that was founded by myself (I went by OverKill back then) and another real life colleague named RocknAngel. Rock passed away a few years ago at a fairly young age (in his late 50s or early 60s) however every time I'm involved in games with the scope of SC it takes me back to those early days of alpha for EVE Online. And their Alpha was far worse and more limited than SC, believe me! Hadean (HDY back then) was EVE's first premiere ship building Organization. A Corporation with business ideology founded upon military principles. There was a Logistics Division and a Special Operations Group (the military wing) and at our peak we were around 180 active players. Many, including myself, with military experience.
Anyways, I digress.Hadean Interstellar, the latest iteration, is sort of the brain child of both myself and a player named Bolththrower, a friend that I've played online games with for at least 10 years now.
"Yes, yes Mason. Blah blah blah. But what is it actually?"
Ok, ok. Look, Star Citizen doesn't have "Ship building" like EVE did. Sure, crafting is going to be a thing however I don't believe that ship buidling will be the core of the games non combat related mechanics. There are just too many other things in game to do; base building, bunker busting, PvP (ground and air), bounty hunting, driving cars and hover bikes and from what I recently saw there are now boats being added?!?!? (wtf?!?!?). So Hadean was reinvented and from from Hadean Drive Yards to Hadean Interstellar.
"Yes, Mason, we get all that but WHAT DO YOU DO, EXACTLY?"
The short answer? Whatever you want!
No, seriously. If you want to run bunkers? We have people that love doing that (me for one). If you love flying ships in combat against either players or NPCs? We do that too. Oh, you want to build bases on a far off moon in the Hades system? Yeah, we can do that! Like to sit at home on a Friday night with a glass of Scotch and turn big rocks into little ones? We can do that too! Hell, one of our members (and I'm not mentioning any names but it rhymes with bolththrower) styles himself a Space Trucking Viking!
Hadean Interstellar means that we are throughout the 'Verse and will have many different subsidiaries within our Corporate Portfolio allowing all styles of gameplay and community.
As an example? We have Blackjack Securities which is sort of the military wing of the Hadean organization. Blackjack Securities pilots fly CAP on trade routes, assist with security and enforce territorial claims should it ever come to that. Until the in-game mechanics are more finalized we have this org as effectively it's own ingame organization and flag operating as a subsidiary of Hadean Interstellar.
"Ok, that all sounds good but if you aren't playing Star Citizen like a Try Hard, why the website?"
Well, because I like doing this kind of stuff (Mason is a Nerd) and the Co-Founders both felt that it would be great to have things "Ready to go" for when people decide that the game is worthwile playing. The website also provides a place for a gamer community to come together with like minded people. We even host guides and tips and tricks on how to do things here.
"Ok, what if I want to join and play? Is there a place to do that?
Not yet, but there will be. For now just join on the forums and take part in the community. If you express an interest in joining the Organiation then we'll look into adding you in game so you can chill on board one of the multi crew ships or fly tandem with some of the other players.
"What if I'm a streamer or youtuber; can I still join?"
Absolutely! There are Organzations out there founded by YouTubers/Streamers as a way to generate a captive audience for them to be able to generate money. Neither myself, nor Bolththrower, delude ourselves into thinking we will be the next Pewdiepie (is that how you spell it?). We both have jobs in the real world and neither of us live in moms basement so there won't be any bullshit here about "Content creation is a viscious business and I will not give any potential competition any insight or help in getting started"; that isn't how we roll.
If you want to plug Hadean Interstellar then that would be a great bonus but if not then that's up to you!
